The Announcement of the 50th Anniversary of the College of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine Hebei Agriculture University
In October 2006, the College of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine(TCVM) of Hebei Agriculture University(HBAU)(former school of hebei Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) will welcome her 50th anniversary. It will be a great festival for all the stuffs and alumni of the college.
The College of TVCM of HBAU is located in Dingzhou city, a famous and historic city in Hebei province. In 1956, the Premier Zhou Enlai signed and issued? the State Council’s Instruction on improvingthe Work of the Veterinarians of TCVM. Therefore , the Agricultural Department of Hebei province held the training Class for TCVM in Dingzhou city.In 1958, the training class was changed into Hebei TCVM School. In July 2000, the school was emerged with Agricultural University of Hebei, presently the College of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine . It is also the earliest and the only specialized school of TCVM. In the past 50 years, the college has trained 246 experts and teachers for the other agricultural universities in China, provided more than 20000 special veterinarians for Hebei province. Now the college has become the place of origin of TVCM education in modern times, named as the cradle of TVCM.
At present, the college has developed from a small school which had only dozens of students and only one major to a comprehensive college that focuses on TVCM and animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, besides, has nine other majors. The college has more than 3000 full-time students; there are 178 faculty and stuff members in the college, including 110 full-time teachers, among whom 45 professors and associate professors, more than 40 have obtained doctorate or master degree. The college coveres an area of 150 mu(about 75 hectares), the total building area? is over 70000 square meters. In recent years, the college has undertaken 10 national and provincial scientific research projects, has won 8 provincial and city level advanced awards, published more than 50 academic papers, compiled more than 30 national educational materials, more than 20 professional works. Nowadays, the college has become a comprehensive and modern college of education, scientific research, and academic communication and training.
The 50th anniversary is a milestone of the College of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, and a grand festival for the national Chinese Veterinarians. On October 28, 2006, the college will hold a series of activities. When the time comes, the college will hold the 50th anniversary ceremony, academic forum, enterprise forum and so on.
During the 50 years, the college has gone through hardships and made great achievements. Seizing this good opportunity, led by the current college leaders, we will go to great lengths to make greater progress.
